First Time At IMTS

5/7/2009 2:52:45 PM
Time spent waiting for crucial components is wasted time, potentially causing lost profit and lost customers. At IMTS 2008, Precision RPM will be showing its range of off-the-shelf Gamet super high precision taper roller bearings. Designed and manufactured in the UK to deliver reliable performance for applications which require high rotational accuracy, the Gamet bearings meet the highest quality standards. Well known Gamet users include Colchester-Harrison Lathes, Jones and Shipman, Danobat, Huron, Kellenburger, Voumard and Weiler among many others.

A successful UK manufacturer, Gamet Bearings has a reputation for manufacturing super high precision bearings which have absolute geometric accuracy and rigorous dimensional precision and for consistently meeting customers delivery schedules. The company manufactures the bearings at its purpose built factory with rotational accuracy to as low as 0.5 microns ( QK Grade ), better than ABEC 9 / Timken 00 – generally accepted as the highest quality available. It recently launched its range of large diameter bearings, particularly appropriate to the oil industry but also crucial for the grinding, turning, printing and steel industries and special purpose machinery. Bearings are currently manufactured up to 506mm ID in plain & flanged cup versions with high radial & axial load capabilities and radial run-out accuracy better than 10 microns.

Short lead times and prompt, on-time deliveries are achieved because it consistently maintains an efficient production system and supports a highly skilled workforce capable of giving absolutely superb customer support and service. Based in Colchester, Essex (UK), Gamet Bearings operates with the text-book design, manufacturing, management and supply procedures. Bearings are all designed and manufactured at the Colchester plant, where manufacturing is conducted under controlled conditions using equipment designed to ensure that the product has absolute geometric accuracy and rigorous dimensional precision. Machines on which final operations are performed operate at constant temperature in a controlled, dust–free atmosphere maintained at 60-65% humidity.

Exhibiting for the first time at IMTS, Precision RPM was founded by Kathleen Comerford three years ago. A stocking distributor, the company prides itself on its ability to deliver on time precisely the right bearing for the application, whether it be a standard bearing for a production machine or a special designed specifically for the application. Kathleen says “Our strength is in our ability to identify and empathise with the customer. Everyone who works at Precision RPM is a bearing specialist so can readily ascertain the exact requirements of the application and recommend the most suitable bearing. In addition to providing exactly the right bearing, we have an extensive stock so deliver promptly. Gamet itself manufactures to extremely short lead times so even if a bearing has to be manufactured for an individual application we can still meet even the most stringent lead time requirement. We like to think that we are large enough to cope but small enough to care”. The company serves the whole of North America, Canada and Mexico as a distributor and operates an import/export business with both Peru and Ecuador. Highly skilled support engineers are based throughout North America. Kathleen herself has spent her working life in the bearing industry, initially with GMN and then transferring her attention to minute precision bearings before becoming General Manager of the GMN Authorised Vendors.

The Gamet Bearings range shown by Precision RPM can be seen on Booth No. D-4782 at IMTS this year.
